We're missing a lot of milestones in the little Z man's life on the blog lately. The fabulous first trip to Kona Village encompassed many other firsts.
Unfortunately, one of those was his first illness. Zain and mommy came down with the same nasty bug right before Christmas, which peaked right on Christmas day. As soon as we checked in our luggage, Zain projectile vomited all over mommy, himself and the sidewalk outside of SFO! You should have seen the look on the face of the lady who was behind us in line! It was so terrible. We almost didn’t get on the plane. Mommy was afraid he would get worse on the flight and was having visions of his fever spiking to like 110 degrees in the middle of the Pacific Ocean with no way out. We ran into some friends and fellow villagers (one was another mom – our friend Ronnie) at the gate and they ensured us that Zain would live and that even though he was sick, he was going to be sick at home or in Hawaii, so it might as well be Hawaii. We agreed and got on the plane. Half way down the aisle of the plane, we got one more projectile out, got to our seats, then sent mommy to the bathroom to barf too. It was a LONG flight to say the least!
But we made it to The Village and got little Zain’s feet into the Pacific Ocean. The stay at the Village wasn't without it's share of travails, however. The Little Z Man's stuffy nose and vomitting, turned into a nasty, nasty cough and a fever that lasted for four days. So we trudged off to Urgent Care, at the suggestion of Zain's pediatrician. The little man needed a chest x-ray. Fortunately, he didn't have pneumonia. Just in case, the doctor prescribes some medicine. So Mommy, Zain and Daddy we are all on meds at the same time! Joy.
Within 24 hours the Little Man showed vast improvement and by 48 hours he was back to himself.
We took lots of great photos but we're not sure how many we'll get on the blog. Here a two.

The best part of Little Z Man's trip was that he had all four grandparents there AND Aunt Niocle, Uncle Kevin and his Cousin Big Z (Zachary).
In the end, Zain loved Kona Village. We can't wait to take him back where he'll learn to scuba dive, hula, eat roast Kalua pig, and swim with the Honu (turtles).
