I love the Wa Wa!

I am in my 6th week of swimming lessons and I am doing so great! I love the water and I am sure I must be the teacher's favorite student. I practice "falling" in off the wall - tune the tune of humpy dumpty - then I turn around and splash back to the wall. They try to teach me to climb out of the pool, but I am too little. I like to do the "monkey" walk around the edge of the pool and find the shallow end. Every week I am doing better and better going under the water. I am learning how to hold my breath first and float on my back when I come up.

My girlfriend Ellery is taking the lessons with me and we usually have quite the fan club at the Swim Academy. Grandma Barbara, Nana, Aunt Tanya, Daddy and Papa the usual cheering section. Sometimes Daddy gets in the pool with me too.

Adventures in Parenting

We're missing a lot of milestones in the little Z man's life on the blog lately. The fabulous first trip to Kona Village encompassed many other firsts.

Unfortunately, one of those was his first illness. Zain and mommy came down with the same nasty bug right before Christmas, which peaked right on Christmas day. As soon as we checked in our luggage, Zain projectile vomited all over mommy, himself and the sidewalk outside of SFO! You should have seen the look on the face of the lady who was behind us in line! It was so terrible. We almost didn’t get on the plane. Mommy was afraid he would get worse on the flight and was having visions of his fever spiking to like 110 degrees in the middle of the Pacific Ocean with no way out. We ran into some friends and fellow villagers (one was another mom – our friend Ronnie) at the gate and they ensured us that Zain would live and that even though he was sick, he was going to be sick at home or in Hawaii, so it might as well be Hawaii. We agreed and got on the plane. Half way down the aisle of the plane, we got one more projectile out, got to our seats, then sent mommy to the bathroom to barf too. It was a LONG flight to say the least!

But we made it to The Village and got little Zain’s feet into the Pacific Ocean. The stay at the Village wasn't without it's share of travails, however. The Little Z Man's stuffy nose and vomitting, turned into a nasty, nasty cough and a fever that lasted for four days. So we trudged off to Urgent Care, at the suggestion of Zain's pediatrician. The little man needed a chest x-ray. Fortunately, he didn't have pneumonia. Just in case, the doctor prescribes some medicine. So Mommy, Zain and Daddy we are all on meds at the same time! Joy.

Within 24 hours the Little Man showed vast improvement and by 48 hours he was back to himself.

We took lots of great photos but we're not sure how many we'll get on the blog. Here a two.

The best part of Little Z Man's trip was that he had all four grandparents there AND Aunt Niocle, Uncle Kevin and his Cousin Big Z (Zachary).

In the end, Zain loved Kona Village. We can't wait to take him back where he'll learn to scuba dive, hula, eat roast Kalua pig, and swim with the Honu (turtles).

Christmas Eve at Nana and Papa's House

The Little Z Man was spoiled with gifts on Christmas Eve at Nana and Papa's. He got to see so much of his family, play and rip paper off presents.... It was so fun! You can see him in his cute "Big Boy" outfit (complete with sweater vest and 4lbs of drool to match! )

Of course, no holiday with The Boxer Family would be complete without a few items of 'Cal' paraphernalia in the mix.

"All of that stuff is FOR ME!!!!!"

Swinging The Day Away

The Little Z Man has discovered The Park and The Swing! Both of which he thinks are fantastic! Here is his little giggling video...

In other news....
He is starting (trying) to wave goodbye, scooting around the floor (mostly backward) trying to crawl, going under the water in swim lessons, and communicating to mommy and daddy with his first signs (we are teaching him sign language). We are having a blast!

Kona Village 2007

The Little Z Man had his first taste of Kona Village over the Christmas holiday. This is especially important to his parents who have reserved a special place in their hearts for Kona Village. Daddy has been going to KVR since 1977 when he was just 12 years old (thirty years ago!).

You can see from the sunset above why this is a special place. We'll post more photos but here's one of our favorites from the trip.

First Chanukkah

Continuing on with the "First" themes...I guess this will get repetitive for the first few years....

This week marked the start of The Festival of Lights, or Chanukkah. Little Z Man loves lighting the candles or to be more precise, he wants to eat the candles and that's when they are lit! We're teaching him that this isn't such a good idea....

Things I like to do

With all the music in Little Z man's past -- Grandma Barbara plays the piano and write songs as did her father. Papa Jeff plays guitar and was in a band growing up, his Aunt Nicole Boxer sings, writes songs and plays guitar and piano and his cousin Big Z plays the piano and his mommy has music on all the time-- it's no wonder he likes the piano.

Here he is tickling the black and white ivories with his cousin Zach and his Aunt Nicole for the first time.
